Falkand Islands (Malvinas). We were filming wildlife and the daily life of
the islanders for BBC Television and our journeys took us to some of the most
distant parts of the archipelago. Here we set out to travel across some open sea
in the West Falklands. For the hardy local people it was normal as they owned
their own boats and would think nothing of a few hours crossing to a friend's
island for a party. In the background are 'the Jasons' once known as the Sebaldes
which since the 1990s have been owned by the Wildlife Conservation Society of
New York.
