PUNO BAY, LAKE TITICACA, PERU. At 3,812 metres (12,507 feet), Lake Titicaca
is the highest navigeable lake in the world. The Coya was one of the historic
small fleet of British steamships that carried passengers and cargo on the lake
between Peru and Bolivia. The ship, 546 tonnes, was built by William Denny &
Brothers, Dumbarton, Scotland and then reduced to small pieces which were taken
to Peru and transported to the lake by rail. It was launched in 1893.
