PARAGUAY The
remarkable 13 storey Hotel Guarani was built and opened
two years earlier in 1961. The architect was Brasilian Adolpho
Morales Rubio and the project was originated by the country's
dictator, President Alfredo Stroessner. The Hotel is overlooking
the beautiful Plaza de los Heroes, now totally changed and
renamed as the Plaza de la Democracia. During its lifetime
the Hotel has been visited by many notable people including
President Charles de Gaulle, Neil Armstrong, and HRH Prince
Philip.
