1963 Pisac Peru. Every Sunday for generations Quechua mayors from parishes around Pisac, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, have gathered outside the church in Pisac to celebrate Mass. An important part of the ceremony is to make libations with pisco, the local brandy, to Pachamama, Mother Earth. Before entering the Church, the Mayors also blow haunting notes on their ancient Conch shells which since Inca times have been brought from the northern coast of Peru.
