1965 La Paz, Bolivia An American-built Shay cog-drive steam locomotive of the FLPB (Ferrocarril La Paz Beni). This type of geared locomotive was used originally on a short railway line over the steep slopes of the eastern Andes. By 1966 the line had been dismantled but this locomotive was still in use in the railway yards in La Paz. An Aymara woman carrying a baby on her back walks alongside.

Camera: Nikon F 35mm Single Lens Reflex with Nikkor 50mm F1.4 lens. Film - Kodak Plus X Pan 1/125 second F3.2. Developed in La Paz using Kodak Microdol at normal dilution.
